Use common household chemicals and items to make a foaming monster.
Materials:
- Plastic Bottle
- Coloured Paper
- Tape and Glue
- Tissues
- Vinegar
- Bicarbonate of soda
Method:
- Decorate the bottle to make it look like a monster. We added teeth, tentacles and lots of eyes.
- Half fill the bottle with vinegar
- Put a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a square of tissue, and twist it up into a bundle
- Drop the tissue into the bottle and wait
What Will Happen?
Haimisin: It’s going to react and foam up!
Results:
Our first couple of attempts to get the monster foaming were either not caught on video, or were unsuccessful (definitely make sure you have enough vinegar in the bottle). On our third attempt we got the reaction we wanted. See the video below for what happened:
